You know, they continue on. The Chinese chapter (emulating chevrons made for the African trade) beginning in 2006 changed things a bit, though. Some of the new trade bead style Chinese ones are still being misrepresented, still being dirtied up and sold with the required stories to deceive. I think this period surely had some influence on the prices of the standard 6-layer red-white-and-blue, as well as the older 7-layer Venetians of the same basic color scheme. I think these beads may be harder to sell now due to the proliferation of the Chinese production. As expected when they first appeared. But, I have heard that the prices for the ever-elusive Venetian GREEN 7-layers have spiked noticeably in recent years. This one, in my pile, from Thomas 2 years ago, may look familiar to you.
I cherish it, and it's symbolic in my bead-life, the point at which I felt...this is the last Venetian bead I really NEED in my stash.

it now hangs with antique coral beads. Seven layer green is about 20mm wide and 20mm at it's longest side.

Nice balance between the red and the chevron, echoed shapes--good work!

Joyce. Chinese chevrons are not going to stay for very long time. Material is getting very expensive. I think their days are numbered.
Yes jan. I do remember seen your beautiful strand of chevrons.

Some years back I put up some archival strands with no duplicates. I found this one the other day while looking for something in the shop. A few have bead worm holes, but none too dramatic.

Among the riot of color, I'm attracted to the elegant white one, top center...is it of white and clear glass only ?

Watched these hang along with another strand in a friends store in Gallup for some years back in the early eighties. I finally got to where we were doing quite a bit of trading along with him buying most of the things I was making. One day I could not let the two strands continue to hang there for someone else to buy so we did a cash trade deal on the piece I was selling. I think this would have been around 1985. These beads had been hanging in the store from the time Suzi and I had first met Keith and his brother in 1980 and from what I understand they had been there quite awhile before we saw them. If I remember correctly the lesser strand was priced about 135.00 and this large strand about 225.00. The length of the strand 38 inches the largest bead on this strand is 31mm in diameter and 38mm long the smallest 9.8mm X 10.3 mm. We broke the smaller strand up when we moved into the new house so we could use some of the beads as curtain pulls, in doing this when ever we are upstairs we can view some very nicely ground chevrons. All my best ......... Danny P.S. Two of the beads are four layer!!

Alive and well! I'm always amazed at all the chevron variations. This 7 layer came from Willis Music's collection. Any feedback appreciated. -Matt
