Hello to the group. I am posting pictures of some of my long beads. I am hopeful other members will share their thoughts on my long beads and long beads in general made from agate and I am not 100% about the white one.

So please submit your pictures of long agate beads.

Next to show my long zi bead almost 6 inches and after that to post my banded agate long beads from 1 1/2 to 4 inches

Please can anyone in the group speak to the rarity of the long agate beads depending on source material and craftsmanship involved to make such long beads.

I have been told in the past the holes were drilled first the the bead shaped?? Any comments??

Ok I hope everyone will enjoy my pictures of a few of my beads

From my FB page, 2011—this is a detail photo from the Timeline exhibit at The Bead Museum in AZ—where I installed three beads from Khambat (Cambay), India. These had been made to the specifications of Mark Kennoyer—who gave them to me in the late-'80s/early-'90s. The top mottled carnelian bead is ca. 3.25" or 8cm long—and at that time was the second-longest bead they made for him. And these beads were expressly made to copy ancient Harappan beads from ca. 5,000 years ago. JDA.

I will be posting more pictures of the bead hole wear on the other beads later. Not so easy to get clear pictures that show the detail of the wear not only inside the hole itself but of the ends of the beads showing contact wear.

more later this picture is almost as good as actual bead in hand??!!

Pictures of long beads welcome.
