The first image here is of beads that came on a strand that I bought because there was a beautiful silver repousse melon bead on it. But the glass beads that comprised most of the strand (32 in all) are new to me. They they are clear glass wound beads with an orange trail decoration - but with the blue tinge around the perforation. Are they from India? I don't really see release residue. Contemporary glass art maybe? They seem to be quite well made.
The seller's aunt was a bead person and they would be at least 20 years old according to her.

The second image is of white molded powder glass beads some sort (I think). The strand is 40" long. I've had prosser glass beads with a similar surface, but these have no mark around the middle as prosser glass I know of does.

Anyhoo... it is Sunday and there should be bead pictures to look at.

the spiral ones appear to be indian as they have traces of white residue and i have seen recent indian clear beads with a slight colour inside , the white are definitely prosser types- i'm sure floor will confirm...

-The prosser disks are familiar, but the big (1.3cm diameter) drawn beads are not!

I have seen these before, and bought a bag of them because they were so odd. They were made in the Czech Republic.

About the beads you call Prosser beads: they are not Prosser beads. They are 'regular' molded beads. This shape is sometimes called kakamba beads. For some reason, I often see them referred to as Prosser beads, but they are made with quite a different technique.

Ach! Of course not Prossers! I know the difference. Just sloppy... Thanks!

Yes, the white ones look like Prosser beads, most likely from France, possibly from the Czech Republic. They have been ground and polished so the seam is no longer visible.

Thank you Floor. It there something particular that would point to a French origin?

There is not an easy way to tell the difference. They are extremely similar.
In this case, I go by my first impression. I have seen quite a few of both major production companies, Bapterosses in France and Redlhammer in Czech Republic. These 'feel' French to me, but there is no clear way to be sure.
