This very long strand contains faceted beads that appear to be hand ground plus lantern shaped carnelian colored beads that also appear to me to be mold made - but then hand ground. There are also wound beads on the strand. They all seem to be recently strung (on monofilament) but with an older clasp.
Colors are fab.
Czech?

Could it be that the lantern beads are some type of plastic? This type of shape and carving is most often found on softer beads, like bone or plastic.

The facetted beads could be both Czech and German (Neugablonz). I do not see any reason to think they are hand facetted. The machine facetting is still done by a person who puts the beads on a holder to put on the machine. There are quite a few steps involved, and even with the machines, the results are not always as consistent as you night think.

Thank you for responding Floor.
Yes, the lantern shaped beads are indeed a hard plastic. When looked at under a loupe (located under the sofa this am) they have crazing on the surface. I don't see evidence of a seam anywhere. Might they have been machined?
With regard to the facetting, I meant to say that the facets looked ground not molded - as they are indeed inconsistent shape wise - but quite clean and sharp. Thank you for clarifying the process.
