Could it be that the lantern beads are some type of plastic? This type of shape and carving is most often found on softer beads, like bone or plastic.
The facetted beads could be both Czech and German (Neugablonz). I do not see any reason to think they are hand facetted. The machine facetting is still done by a person who puts the beads on a holder to put on the machine. There are quite a few steps involved, and even with the machines, the results are not always as consistent as you night think.
