Last year about this time, I reported on the discovery of a very interesting micro-mosaic portrait cane used as decoration on an ancient bead. Apparently there were several other bead types that were decorated with the identical cane, as pictured here.

These beads were discovered in a dig site in the area around Nobbosibirsk, Russovia. It is not clear how the beads traveled to this site, as the origin of the beads is likely the Sell-Kirk Mountains, an area known for jewelry bazaars, from antiquity right up until the present time.

But I did not know about them and I sold them for ten dollars each.

I have since learned that one sold at Christies in 1999 for 50,000.00 pounds sterling.

I should have asked BCN members for their opinion first….

He would have loved this! Thanks! It made me smile, and hear his infectious laugh inside my head, which happens on a fairly regular basis.
