Thank you so very much, Uwe, for the very first ever BCN Bead! This is another in the famous series of Uwe grinds from Chinese material, approx. 25mm x 50mm. At first, I think he reground finished Chinese chevron beads from the 2007 batch. I believe this bead is ground from Chinese rosetta cane material from the same year, which came from Driftstone Pueblo. Thank you to Basket Bob for being in the right place at the right time! The outer red layer was very thick on this cane, giving the resulting raised BCN lettering a nice juicy translucence! I can't even guess how much time this took to make, Uwe! Heartfelt thanks for the first commemorative BCN bead, in an honored spot in the archive!

Not to forget, that I got this large cane a while ago as a generous gift from Joyce, together with other treasures...! And there is still enough left from this cane for several other “projects” – yappadappadu...!
It´s a small gift, considering the fun I have on this place since so many years now...:-) Thanks to David too for this very nice image. I know, it´s not that easy to photograph because of the translucent lettering...I tried...:-)

Very nice gesture Uwe, and as always exceptional craftsmanship. Sure like the one you sent me a couple of years ago. Thanks also for your email, was great hearing from you. L.

The color and texture of the glass reminds me of a cherry red Life Saver candy - remember those?

Joyce I have three questions. Did you know it was coming or was it a surprise? What were the first words that came out of your mouth when you opened the package? Are you wearing it? Uwe what a great idea and you made it beautifully. SUPERB!!!

Hi Judy! I did not know it was coming until he emailed me that it looked like something he'd sent arrived at my post office box. Big surprise!
First words, with big grin...."oh wow...!" I will wear it when I've appropriately rigged it into a necklace, probably as a pendant. And especially at bead shows. I wore the killer black and white Uwe spiral grind to Tucson in 2011, and it got very impressed reactions! Like, "What IS that?!" They liked it a lot!

There is a resemblance - and that was my favorite of the original colors.
And also.... I liked Luden's cherry cough drops. They aren't really the same anymore though....but then...what is?!
