Amtrak cancelled one of my trains, the outgoing one, so I ended up driving to & from the Big T. Pretty tiring, doing 2 days down & 2 days back, driving alone, but I made it and did the "rounds" of my favorite shows. This fist photo is a "sign of the times" - no show at the Grand Luxe aka Grant Inn, but I found a couple of the usual GLH sellers at other shows.

I bought some nice strands of trade beads and have already taken them apart so I could examine the best fancy beads. Here are some of them - The second photo shows a very fancy Zen bead with compound mille eyes - one I've never seen before

Large green Zen barrels, interesting crumb and candy cane decorated beads, and some very small clear tabs. Not 100% sure the tabs are Venetian. There are a lot of small tabs with clear base in the early 1900s pages of the Sick catalog, but I didn't see this exact bead. Would appreciate a post if you recognize this bead!

Found a rare pink Venetian on a necklace from Ethiopia. The millefiori decorated beads are vintage, maybe 1960s -70s (?). They appear to be newer than the "trade bead era" but the cane is probably older.

Nicole Anderson specializes in new beads made in Venice, from stringers and glass from older stock. The small (7 mm x 32 mm) chevrons are from old Constantini cane, and the lime beads use the "vette di Firenze" (the stringer of Florence) which is a three-layer flat rod from the 1930s-40s.

They may have been found at Costantini warehouse, but the chevron cane is from Moretti /Effrete factory.
The chevron canes from Costantini are distinctly made with typical different type of glass.

Finally, these beads were on a mixed strand and at first glance looked like some kind of worn & stained stone. However, after checking, I found that they are made of - wait for it - POLYSTYRENE! Pretty nice imitations, what do you think?
