Hello again to the group

Here I am showing 2 very unusual, to me, beads from Katmandu 1985.

42 and 34 mm long. Material?? Coloring is striking and really looks better in hand, but still you can see the beauty of these 2 beads. 35 and 42 mm

Does this style of bead have a name??

all comments welcome
sincerely from Walter Anderson

You can also see these beads in my Plate III, lower left.

They do not have specific names, as far as I know. One could ask an interested Tibetan for his/her opinion or knowledge.

It is my opinion that some of these beads MAY BE late reproductions. I have seen specimens that are so well-conserved and new-looking, my skeptical side thinks it should be considered that some are reproductions. I own one of these beads, and it's in the photo.

Hello Jamey

Any idea of material?? Any idea of age??

One day in hand, you will see the great wear on the ends.

Pictures are only so good.

Again I respect your opinion
sincerely from Walter

Since they are chemically-decorated stone beads (zi), they are agate.
