I'm posting these just for pleasure. The top image is a watch chain from the Victorian era I believe, The second compares the chain to a strand of carved wooden beads that I found a couple of years ago. their origins remain a mystery.
All are lovely though I think.

a long strand with a secure clasp from the 19th century it could also be a muff chain-

Yes, I had thought they were interchangeable - but muff chains are muff chains! Thx!
