Hi everyone! I've enjoyed reading the posts on here. I've been slowly collecting old beads from flea markets ... here's my finds from Brimfield last weekend in necklace form: four Guerrero beads, 5 crystal and 2 chalcedony beads that I think are Saharan. The elderly gentleman named Christopher who sold them to me said he thought the large bead with the natural facets might be Tairona, but I doubt it - the bore holes don't have a steep enough taper. Beautiful, nonetheless.

Can you post good images of the central bead, including a close up of the perforation?

Si,
I have never seen a Tairona bead in this shape. I agree with Fred you need to post close up in focus images please. The 2 chalcedony beads look like they may be Tairona need to see better images, from what I can see the holes look right.

All my best ...... Danny

And here are a few pics of the others.

Very hard to see the hole of the less translucent chalcedony bead but it appears very straight when held to the light.

The smallest crystal bead is very flat on both ends and has two rather conical bore holes, one deeper, one shallow.

The second smallest crystal bead, very clear, has a bore hole that seems very straight and mostly from one side.

The two largest crystal beads both have bore holes that are longer on one side than the other and aren't quite aligned in the middle, as does the middle crystal bead, which appears to have been made from a single quartz spear with the facets "as grown" and only the ends rounded.

Si,
From the look of the drilling I would say that these are not Tairona beads.Their drilling usually is a tapered hole that meets pretty much in the center. Nice beads.

yes, I agree. I believe they're more likely ancient and African. Thanks for your interest!
