First pic is White Heart (Red) cane stock, generally only produced once a year and the second picture is among the interesting machines you may see. This one, for larger size rocaille production, say 6/0-1/0, inspects that the bead are round or square (flat), and if bead is too flat its discarded. Often on a production run up to 70% is discarded. They claimed this was most efficient way, any upgrade with technology not worth the expense. Traditional methods.

Wow, they could indeed be selling the flawed ones to the Krobo for making recycled glass beads. I have seen Krobo bicones made of fused white heart beads.

They saw most goes in he garbage, i know something is remelted and there is "second quality" but they are vague about that.

Also charlottes and 3 cut beads are less than 1% of production. I came from 37th street , a fashion block but the manager said , Perry "we are rich", that is not due to fashion. Its traditional ( culture)

Thank you for sharing these images and info Perry! I am putting them all together on the same thread so they won't get separated. (Joyce)

Desna is not a common destination town but in fact has always produced these glass rods and towns like Jablonec were just distribution centers of finished production.

Desna is where Glass Rod Production is located. This is seed bead rod production. Old or traditional techniques still used.
