Believe me, our general lack of words does not mean that we don't care. There just are not words.

Yes, such an inhumanity leaves speechless
But in this world of brutes, we should not forget the beautiful things.
The garden of Claude Monnet, where he painted the "Nympheas" in Giverny, near Paris.

Since my visit to the Metropolitan Musuem of Art in NYC way, way back in the 70s...one of the big shows was Monet at Giverny...I will always love his work.

I've always wanted to visit these gardens. For now, I just enjoy the photographs of the paintings, and some puzzles that I've done and hung on the wall.

There are some another pics from this garden to enjoy.
We were there in spring and he was so beautiful and delicate!! We understand better why Monet painted so many painting of the same garden: the light is different during the days, the seasons. It is like the see, always changeable.
We have to preserve our world and our values which built and builds our civilisation.

Hi Kika, In the midst of all the terrible violence, I've been thinking of one of my favourite buildings in Paris, l'Institut du Monde Arabe. Do you know it? It was designed by the brilliant French architect Jean Nouvel in the 1980s and it's on a beautiful site on the banks of the Seine. But the south side of the building is all windows - a crazy idea with all that sun striking them. Not these windows, however; each one is composed of multiple "irises" that expand and contract according to the amount of light that's required for the time of day. The effect on the interior is to create a wealth of geometric patterns that recall the interior of a mosque. From the very beginning the Institut has been a centre for multicultural dialogue and it has always seemed to me to be a perfect example of the best that is possible in Paris. I remember going there for the first time in 1988 to hear a reading by the great Franco-Lebanese novelist Aamin Maalouf; afterwards we went out to the terrasse which looks across the river to the cathedral of Notre Dame. I'll attach a photo of the reading room where I've spent many quiet afternoons and met some fabulous people. I'm sure, in the dark times, that light will triumph. Best, Will

Meanwhile, I reflect upon Charles the Hammer, the Inquisition, Vienna, and the Battle of Lepanto. Shi'thead must be sent back to Assholistan and isolated there. Who sells these scumbags weapons? Love them inaptly named "Islamic" beads.

for the beautiful posting. The windows are beyond words and the building inspirational. By the way, I sent you a private email 3 days ago.

Hi Will
Yes, we would want to go there in December: I need to see the exhibition about Osiris. But that will be the first time that I will come there.
Best,
Kika
