The Beadbrothers were also present. These trays show genuine ancient Indonesian beads. My eye was immediately drawn the the unique bead with a star type pattern.

The ones in the second picture: keep an eye on them. I expect them to get mixed in with antique and ancient beads quite easily. They are about 12 mm / .5 inch.

Saw pictures from an artist who had taken vertical panoramic shots from churches, so I thought I'd give it a go too.

I had to reduce my pictures for this item to get no double. Floor is getting so fast to put her pics, so let's try to supply. A lovely day with a lot of discussion, sharing information about beads and again beads. Next year we want so see more BCN members and we missed a lot of people who normally joined the club. Will we see you next year? Nel

A mysterious necklace from Peggy Kneefels collection. Amongst the small beads you will see a lot of small animal teeth. There was also a copy with red beads. This item is from Uttar Pradesh (Northern India) and Peggy could not give me more information. For instance: when are people wearing this (event etc.)? Maybe someone of BCN can give more details? Nel

The Amsterdam Traditional Jewelry & Textiles Fair in "De Duif" is not like Tucson: it's a small-scale event but it's still worth visiting and it's a place to meet and greet other bead collectors. For now my last picture with my favourite colour (beads in blue: Toubab Jewelry) Hope you enjoyed it. Nel

Does anyone have a good source of how they are traditionally worn?
I was told that as necklaces they will just put a few of these Czech beads on as focal beads and fill it with more generic beads.
As I understood they are also used as hair ornaments in Mauretania?

It was a fun day, and I hope we can do it again next year.
I am actually considering making it a bit more interesting for those who travel a long way. Perhaps make it a two day bead filled weekend: the Bead fair, Bead dinner with lecture, visit to Tropenmuseum/Allard Pierson, lampwork beadmaking demonstration. I know there are quite a few people that are on the fence about coming to Amsterdam for this one. It is a pretty small show, and adding some events could make it more interesting. Also, it is generally the weekend before the Great Britain Bead Society Show, and some could even make it a 10 day trip to include both. Anyway, plenty to think about for next year.

It's heartwarming so see BCN's positive influence all the way over in Amsterdam! I was thinking about you all, and though it is a small show, it looks very rich in content and in good company of bead comrades! :)
