here are two of the most coveted type of Morfias. They have several eyes! This necklace was already purchased by someone else! In other words, the client brought her beads in and the women made her a necklace with gold! The beads on this necklace sell for a price that none of you would believe! Mauritania women scoff at the reaction of foreigners when they hear the price of this type of jewelery! Remember this is preety much a closed society, they need us for anything!! I was quite glad to have been treated like a relative!

when I saw your picture I ran to look for this bead, they are so similar in appearance. This is a millefiori. Your pictures are great, so personal that I almost felt as though I was there. thank you, Judy,

This pattern can be Venetian, or from the Islamic Period.

Thanks for showing this fabulous bead! I have many pictures that Ihave yet to post! I get on very well with Mauritanian women! For some reason, many think that I'm mixed Mauritanian. I was invited many times to see their Mother's bead treasures. They were absolutely enchanted when I oohed and ahhhed over their incredible collections! They love seeing someone who sincerely love their beads! I want to go back to traval to Kiffa! There is a feminine bead culture in Mauritania that you do not see in other African countries.
