About thirty years ago a hunter in west iran where is known by eylamid civilization in chasing a deer found acave which later was called Kalmakareh.inside full by silver vessels from 500 BC.the man after being captured told it was about a truck full of antiques there.
It was so late for Government but they could find some pieces among people and smugglers. A lot of stuffs are now in japan .US.and some else countries museum. I have not seen personally any metal work like those from that cave.even during islamic times.

Incredible pieces, Ali. I have seen a documentary about the place and the pieces some time ago in German TV. Any book that documents the silver work? How could (some?) pieces end up in US collections, while Chomeini was already (~ 10 years) in power at the time, I wonder?!

I followed the links to the pictures in the blog post.

The first one - is that a wild cat of some sort eating a rooster? The level of detail is very naturalistic, so perhaps the ears are those of an actual wild cat, such as a lynx?

Ali - please have a look:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hS7VFc5tlfo
This one is called "Kogan Cave" in Lorestan. Is that the one you talk about or is it close and belongs to the same period?

At minute 15+ some silver objects are shown. Again my question: Same area? Same period?

Do you know idea where the remaining objects are exibited in Iran?
