Then I remembered the beaded beads combined with the moon beads, so I made some small beads.

Rather than fill in the rest of the neckline area with beads - they always seem to roll and catch hair - or just leave the leather lacing bare (also not very comfortable), or do some fancy knotting around the lacing, I tried this sort of caterpillar tube around the lacing. It lays flat, and feels nice when worn. I think I may try this beaded beads/caterpillar tube combination with some phenolic resin "amber" beads...
