Seems to be a must-have....Robert Liu has always had such photographic talent. He makes every single item seem important.
The Northern California Bead Society president, Trarie Kottkamp, asked me to help review an advance copy for our Newsletter. Dr. Robert Liu is planning to give a talk to the NCBS very soon.
He is an excellent photographer of beads and informative writer. I feel that all bead collectors could benefit from buying and studying Bob's book.
Just Fred
Just bought it. Couldn't resist.
Robert was kind enough to give it to me at the show.
It is an amazing book. For bead collectors like us, it is interesting in two ways. First, and that is the main intention of the book, there is so much advice on photographing beads and jewelry! Second, there are so many great beads to see. And, because Robert is meticulous in that way, he also gives a detailed description of the beads.
So it works both as a book to study photography as a book to study beads.
I started out wanting to be a photographer and even took college classes and managed to make a bit of money at it. I then found that I would rather do lapidary and jewelry. I am glad I had formal instruction in my early photography and have always done all of my own photos.
This said I started Roberts new book last night and can tell all that if you need help in getting the best image this book is a must.
All my best ...... Danny
And then there on page 16 is Thomas!
Lots of great images of beads and jewelry, great color, and I can't wait to dive into the photography stuff. I had a wonderful professional photographer in New England, who did special rates for artists and worked FAST. Sadly (for many reasons), he died several years ago, and I haven't found anyone to replace him.
