That is fascinating. Wondering if you or anyone would know what the teeth are on this strand? or any information on it. Thanks.

Pangolins are on the endangered species list and if the claws are listed on ebay they will be removed.

I wasn't planning on selling it on EBay actually. I've had this antique African necklace for many years. I don't think they are claws and I believe them to be teeth as they have enamel on the lower portions for one thing. Just wondering if they were lion's teeth. Curious.
Thanks.

your teeths seems to be small in size to be a Lion or Leopard. I would say, sometype of smaller animal. it doesn't look like a pangolin claw to me too.

If I seemed a bit aggressive, I apologize, I wrote my post in a hurry.
The reference to ebay was only a caution. I listed some beads that were strung with pangolin claws and my listing was removed by ebay. What is the length of the teeth?

Sorry, just got back from a concert. Thanks for the post. It's ok, no problem, I understand now and appreciate your input. The necklace has two sets of teeth, one of 4 larger ones of 1 1/2" and another set of 3 that are approximately 1 1/4"and slimmer. I will put up a close up picture tomorrow. Thanks.

AMAZING necklace @bonpo. @Toby: The teeth on your necklace are from a smaller canid, something close to the size of a fox or a coyote, but being African they would likely either be from fox or jackal. Here is a side-by-side comparison of two Zulu necklaces, the left being predominately jackal teeth, the right predominately lion teeth. My best, Stephen Parfitt, Springfield Illinois.

I want to thank you for your post. Very helpful. The teeth measure 1 1/2" and they look like the 8th and 9th on the right on the Jackal necklace or possibly? the 4th thru 7th on the right side of the Lion's necklace. Of course the Lion is the more prestigious animal...hahaha.
But no, you're probably correct that they are from a smaller canid and I appreciate the time you put in to post and the photos.
I am also curious about the wood (ebony?) or bone or horn/tusk? peg like pieces in my necklace and wonder you might take a look at those. Thank you so much.
