agate stone wafer-thin beads made where?

i'm writing something for a deadline (which will be a bit late) but i have this bead necklace of rather amazing wafer-thin banded agate slivers and i guess they resemble ancient stone beads but where from? the originals feel like they must have been middle east-ish, as these have slightly rounded edges are they more likely to be a sophisticated indian product, or could be very recent chinese as they can do almost everything???

They are quite similar in quality as some new ones I bought in China. The shape is somewhat different from these, but I don't doubt the Chinese are capable of making these.

I am almost positive these are new to newer Chinese production. Suzi bought some like these a few years ago for so little we could not figure out how they can make things like this and then nearly give it away.
