Hello All;

Here is a bead I am asking if anyone knows where and when it was made.

Chevron, 9 layers, 40mm X 42mm with a 8mm hole. Venetian? American? "?" Age?

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely
Thomas Mercer

The question still remains. Where was the bead made? What is its age?

If I read Jamey's responce corretly it is a Venetian bead made in the late 1900's ???

Sincerely

Thomas Mercer

Not to pick at old wounds, but the blue bead, as shown, is not teal. As another self-proclaimed colorist, I would suggest that it hardly resembles the color understood to be teal-- see below.

Gotta agree, says another colorist, an art historian this time.

If NOT "teal"--what name is better?

Teal has been defined as ranging from bluish-green to greenish-blue. Blues are colors that range from greenish-blues to purplish-blues. The colors being discussed are not blue, and are not from the purple side of blue. They are greenish-blue.

"Azure" means BLUE. These beads are not blue--though they are bluish.

Cyan would probably be the most accurate name, but not everyone would know what color you meant without simultaneously seeing it --

You are arguing about a bead from an old post, and no photo on the current discussion. Here it is.

Cerulean, azure, aqua, sky blue... those are some good words.

Teal has green. GREEN. Sorry Jamey, but the bead is not teal.

OTOH, Google "color wheel teal" and you get more bluish teals.
Google "color chart teal", and you get more greenish ones.
