I also have one of these beads mine is 10mm X 6mm. The person I got mine from said it was venetian, that is all the information I have.

I too was not familiar with this one until I looked at Picard's previous exhibits just now. If you go to Picard's site and look at previous exhibits Venetian chevrons 1800's to mid 1900's, page 4 and bead #CH62.
It is described as a Venetian mid 1950's red chevron.
