The murky yellow of the odd trail decor also looks like a clue to me, at least from this image. Always take into consideration the context from which you purchase beads. These could even be Indonesian copies. They are getting better and better.

Thanks. I respect your summary and you are probably right. I didnt know these are made in Indonesia too. If they had been Czech they might have been worth pursuing.
I thought the residue was from the ends of the beads wearing against each other.I have a lot to learn!
