Yes it looks like a trail decoration.
The white is the result of chemical reactions due to its length in the ground.
The black is actually a semi translucent dark blue like the more common bead in the next picture which is also showing the other side of the bead.
The 6 yellowish parts are to me some kind of fat stripes.
