Thank you for letting us know, Jamey. I visited Yone Inc quite a lot during the 1980s.. Yone, Bertha, and Hermon were quite the team. The little store was packed to the ceiling with all sorts of mostly vintage treasure. From what I remember, Yone had been a dress designer in the 1950s, and his clients wanted custom jewelry to complement their garments... and the rest is history. Janis Joplin was a customer - she was known to incorporate purchased beads along with salvaged beads from old costume jewelry..
Hermon was a knowledgeable and fascinating bead person. Treasured memories! If not the longest lasting retail bead store in the U.S., I suggest that Yone may hold the record for the retail bead store In the very same location for the longest period of time...and for it’s entire run.
