First to the proposed designation "Bavarian" for the furnace-wound beads made in the Fichtelgebirge. Unfortunately, Bavaria also encompasses the Neugablonz beadmakers located in the southern portion of Bavaria which is a completely different industry. Perhaps "Old Bavarian beads" could be used since Neugablonz is post-war but the Fichtelgebirge industry did last into the 1960s.

As for the beads, they are all "Bavarian bead" contenders. It must be kept in mind that other countries also produced/produce furnace-wound beads, such as Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India. Replicas of old "Dutch" beads used to recreate a bead garden in North Holland a couple years back were produced in India, according to Floor Kaspers. These, however, are late 20th/21st century products (see image). But with a bit of battering and soiling, they can be made to look like the old ones.
