The close-ups show one bead with some of the coating chipped off (it came this way) and another shows the light colored core material.

The ad for these beads ran as follows:

"A stunning amber necklace from Taroudant south of Morocco!

Features amber resin beads.

This is a heavy, high quality piece of jewelry in Morocco.

This is an artisan item from Morocco"

I can believe these were hand-fashioned from scrap plastic, and that they are very newly made. The beads still smell like polystyrene, and the coating is soft enough to stick to the paper wrapping in places. So buyer beware - you may like the look of beads like these but they are not amber, and certainly not old. I'll leave the terms "stunning", and "high quality" for others to comment on. My strand was inexpensive but I've seen similar strands with asking prices in the hundreds of dollars.
