Original Message:   Yes, Japanese beads have white residue in holes + 50s charm bracelet use
The blue beads I bought show unused holes that still have the white release residue.

Also noted the appearance of this Japanese style with the millefiori chips in a famous Napier "Lanterns" charm bracelet from the 1950s.

This Napier bracelet has no actual Chinese-manufactured elements in it (e.g., carved cinnabar, cloisonne dragon beads) - possibly a reflection of the embargo on Chinese imports that was enacted due to the Korean war and that lasted twenty years. Once the stock of Chinese beads was gone, they disappeared from fashion jewelry desigs until the embargo was lifted at the start of the 1970s. Hence the reliance on Japanese glass and glass pearl beads?
