Hello to all, I was assembling these pictures for a future purpose and thought they would make a nice weekend show & tell.

These first four beads are most likely from Fustat bead works (ancient Cairo), circa 900 to 1100 AD more or less. The first three beads are 18 mm in diameter and the last one is 23 mm.

Happy collecting,

Jan Skipper, Mosquitobay

The next four are from the same region and time period, about 19 to 20 mm in diameter except for the last one which is 15 mm.

In this group the first three are from Fustat and the last cylindrical bead is most likely earlier, possible late Roman era. Number 6145 is a Morfia type bead with the fused rod inserts. About 18 to 22 mm in diameter except for the cylindrical bead.

Would love to see more examples if anyone wants to join in.

Great stuff Thomas, we all know who has the great glass beads, the Mr. T of the bead world.

Here are a few more mostly Roman era smaller sized mosaic glass beads from my puny collection:

Hi Yankee,

Of course you are right. I had this one mixed in with the other beads because of its multi-eye construction type and totally missed it when identifying the pictures.

Here is a four point view, it is a very interesting and lovely bead.

Beautiful bead Jan. How is the perforation? Has it been hot pinched?

Thanks,
Hendrik

Sorry, I meant 'pierced' instead of 'pinched'.
