I bought this strand thinking the feather beads were black, as they looked in the seller's photo. When they arrived I placed them on a black cloth in a dimly lit room and still thought they were black. I about fell over hours later when I took them into the sunlight and saw them to be transparent green!

I found similar feather combed beads on the Picard website, page 12 of trade beads. I can't tell what color they are, they look black there too.

I have NEVER seen the black/red/yellow/white fancy barrel beads. I can't find them in the Picard books or website.

Does anyone recognize these beads? There are a couple single beads I recognize, but not the two main types. Approx 10mm diameter.

This other strand arrived with the first strand. I know most of these beads, but want to know more about the 17mm crumb beads. They seem to be made entirely of crushed millefiori beads. Are these an African made product? How old?

The green star Venetian millefiori rounded beads are large, 16-18mm diameter, and pristine. I'm ecstatic about the 2 yellow barrels with the blue/white loops, my first of these. Yummy blue round. A yellow with green dots bead for my nascent strand of colored skunks.

I went into debt for these strands and two others, but I'm glad they're here.

Please, here are some new photos of the beads. I'm pretty sure they are Venetian.

I didn't show any photos last time of the one side with the cross, the most important feature. The dark beads are carefully ground flat on each end, very nicely done. Approx 10-11mm diameter.

I'd love to know if anyone else has seen either of these bead types or owns any. A positive ID from a reference like the Sick collection would be the best.

New computer, new camera. Let's see if these will post.

Hi Birdi
Very nice strands, great score. The feathers and the little barrel crosses are very nice and are Venetian. I have seen the little barrel beads before and I have a few floating around somewhere and they are also translucent green. Personally I really like the feathers and I am very jealous.
