Hello!

These lovely clay beads are so beautiful I think - and I am completely unfamiliar with them. Could they be from south or central America?

This strand is knotted and a Chinese silver clasp has been put with them.

Cheers,
Linda

I assumed they were recent W. African, but would like to know more about them as well!

I remember selling them, they were on our catalogue 1994 as #43.
they were then recently made and described as Mali terra cotta beads.

They are indeed in 1980s & 1994 Picard catalogs, as "Mali clay beads", listed for $8.00 a strand on the 1987 price list.

So I guess we can assume they date from the 1980s.
