So I'm posting one of my new "finds" - a layered Celluloid scarf "slide" that looks nice when worn as a pendant - when I'm in a minimalist mood.

It was advertised as Bakelite but I was happy to have it since I'm collecting examples of other "historical" plastics.

Note the crazing in the translucent layers. Celluloid degrades over time and becomes cracked & brittle.

I'm guessing this piece is from the 30s-40s timeframe. It's about 43 mm x 16 mm.

That’s beautiful... the aging or crazing kind of gives those layers a wood- like effect...at least from my monitor.
