Thanks for posting this. This helps spread awareness of what may be going on with some of the beads, depending on how they were made, and also date of manufacture. I'm interested to know more about this. I was aware Pearls were damaged by storage in a moist area, are altered by perfume spray, etc. It's good to know what to be alert for, how we might prevent some damage, and what to do if we suspect this may be occurring in our Trade Beads. Thanks! Anne H.

The Corning Museum of Glass related this story about an Ancient Core Formed Bead (Dated to 500-250BC) that was taken out of storage and I assume into a well lit Photo Studio and "fell apart"and hour after being photographed and placed back into the bag:
