hard to photograph but all the swirly beads here are not only swirled with sticky coloured lacquer of some kind but then dipped or covered with a layer of clear tiny spheres that display the colour and design underneath, and make it glisten...!

i plan to show more examples of use of Ballotini on beads with varying degrees of success...and more decorated with sealing wax as if it was glass-

here are some sealing wax decorated wooden beads with swirls and ballotini, some larger wooden beads with the traces of a design in black ballotini, and a strand bought in the last few years of golden/black swirled plastic moulded beads covered with ballotini- some of which are already peeling off-

these are as bought in a pile, pink wood, with a layer of ballotini and a flower design painted on top... you can see where it began to peel off... and there is just one other bead of similar type in green...

choker of cream and gold with their own matching handmade T-bar and loop, a grey-blue matching set with added "frill" around their middles, and some more sophisticated decorated sealing wax creations, i suspect from 1920's+
