Slightly more green than the pic. Strung on....string! Literally, just string.
I think I got it at either an antique store, or a flea market.
Guess I should keep better records.
they are all moulded- but i think the faceted bicone-like beads that have greenish ends with a clear centre have been ground/faceted as well, and the smooth spherical beads are made with a swirled lustrous mix of red and orange. the big mint-green ones are just moulded with many facets.
beads from the mid 20th C. were often threaded on very fine chain. although these are all now on thread, the necklace with the mint/sandwich/ clear middles appears to have been on chain or wire originally because i think i can see metallic dirt still coating parts of the inside holes of some of the clear faceted beads on the same necklace.
Thank you for posting these Stefany. I love satin glass. I think it is the weight of the molded and lampworked beads that is so striking - and the off colors.
Drawn satin glass is much lighter in weight. Do you know about differences production?
I’m limited to a tablet these days but was able to post these satin glass beads shown a few years ago. They were quite heavy, with a clear layer on the outside. Doing a site search for satin glass going back 4000 days will yield yummy past threads.
