"Ruit Hora" Time Flies? I hope we can say that soon over this lockdown.
How many different text on majolica beads do you have at this moment? And are they all in latin?

Yes all Latin- maybe with spelling mistakes -well i have one or two which say "Assisi"!
i'll try to make a list for anyone who is collecting- watch this space-unless i have a list here at home on my computer - I will look and maybe i have to travel to my workshop to access them, but travel is a bit less difficult this week. at last.
I don't have enough to say i have examples of every motto- some i have are duplicates...

Google translate says this means "slight". A word-for-word translation is "in tenuous work". Maybe the sentiment being expressed is the difficulty of doing the detailed, fine decoration on the bead? Ruit Hora = Rush Hour? It would be interesting to know more about how the mottos were chosen for the beads.

Hi Rosanna, It's a quote from Virgil's Georgics. The whole line in Latin reads: "In tenui labor, at tenuis non gloria" which can be translated as - The object of the labour was small, but not the fame. A hopeful motto for beads! W.

And when I looked this up, I found that the subject of this line of Virgil's poetry was bees.

these are all the mottoes on the beads in my collection, some are repeats...
if you search "Gubbio and Deruta" or "Maiolica" you may learn more about the ceramic traditions from that region in Italy but there isn't very much about the bead making. VERBA MONENT

Google Translate did a good job translating Latin
I did also translate my own motto concerning beads: NVMQVAM SATIS... Never enough! :-))

I looked into a few, since I recognized some words. But I am in no way a Latin expert. Also did study it in high school for a few years, but that is some time ago ;) And English is not my mothertongue, so probably made mistakes. But I would love to learn as well. Maybe this helps in getting some direction? Are there also some Italian motto's? Like Ricordo di Assisi? VERBA MONENT - Verba manent? - Words stay
PARATVS AD OMNIA - Prepared for everything
SPES SINE METYR - Hope without fear
ARTIVM AMORE PLENA - Full of love for art (the arts)
PAX ET BONVM - Peace and goodness
FIDES AMORIS - Believe and love (?)
SEMPER FIDELIS - Always loyal
MENTE EXCELAS - A great spirit
FORTITER ET RECTE - With strength and rightness
EX ANIMO - From the heart
FIRMA FIDES - Strong faith
VICIT LEO - Lion’s courage
AMORE - Love
FORTITVDO - Strength
CARPE DIEM - Seize the day
AGE VERVM - The truth comes (?)
JVSTITIA - Justice
SEMPER ADES - Always here
SALVTE E PACE - Health and peace
LVX LVCEM = something with light
SPES MEA - My hope
VENI VIDI VICI - I came I saw I conquered
MVLTA PAVCIS - Say much in few words ( I like this one, I think I need a whole necklace from these haha :))
EX ANIMO - warmly/heartily
AD SIDERA - To the stars
PVPULA MEA - the apple of my eye (?)
VNICA BELLA - Unique beauty
VIVAMVS - Let us live
