are there any beadworkers out there today who still use the charming not so regular vintage rocailles or is it only the japanese or Chinese identical machine-accurate sizes that everyone is designing with?
or, who wants to use the early rocailles -of which i still have a large amount in many colours?

is anyone doing interesting original new embroidery today with a variety of rocailles - or perhaps making 3-D shapes using them on wire? Please share images...

i finally found an image of a tabletop filled with examples of different traditional beadwork from mostly E. Africa constructed entirely with European-made embroidery beads all slightly varied oblate shapes, not uniform-
the beads were shipped out by the ton by traders and there are many Venetian sample cards that record which colours were favoured by which peoples.
in my image are strips as belts, beads on wires that hold their shape, wound around fat cores or stitched onto hide,

It has been a LOT of fun gathering these things together. Thank you for the thread!
Some of them have been posted previously in this forum.
I would be happy to separate out anything that require a closer look.

i can see many fascinating traditional techniques at least from all over Africa, India, Europe and perhaps central or south America. Which are your favourites?
