Does anyone know where these come from or are used - Nigeria or western Sahara generally? Do they represent beehives, kola nuts, or?

I saw these bronze beads almost everywhere when I was in Ivory Coast, Burkina, Mali and Cameroon: they were made at the ironworkers of Burkina Faso, Mali, Ivory Coast and Cameroon. They are not specially from Nigeria or Ghana.
