Leekan Designs in NYC has been "going out of business" for over a year, but seems to persist.
You can contact them and determine their status at the time of your trip.
Possibly they would show you their inventory, if the storefront is now closed.
You can find Leekan online; but this is their FaceBook page:

I have always enjoyed being in their store whenever I have been in NYC.

Sorry, this probably won't help you but it got me thinking....
Does anyone recall a little Old Lady in NYC a few decades back that had a Bead Store (by Appointment) in an Apartment? Things were laid out on tables in boxes. etc., with prices and you had to ask her to look at anything or she would actually Yell at you!
I sent a friend there it's been like 15-20 years ago and she found some awesome interesting Old beads but she got kinda shook up when she reached towards something on one of the tables and the Old Lady snapped "don't touch that!".
Seems Old Bead Lady had been in a Storefront for years, and kept getting Ripped Off, so moved her business to an Apartment (she didn't live there).
Don't think she is still there, as she was very Old...does this ring a bell with anyone else?
Sorry- that's all I can recall! Maybe more will come back to me or someone else will know!

"A couple doors down from Elliot Greene is Elvee Rosenberg, another old time Czech and German glass bead importer. From the street if you look up you can see 3 or 4 floors of windows filled with dusty old boxes that contain beads and rhinestones and trim and who knows what else, just waiting for you to discover."

Have Fun and be Safe!
That was a very funny blog you posted about NY bead stores. Scary imaging a basement so big and warren-like that you need to follow a yellow line painted on the floor to find your way out. Wonder if the NYC fire marshal ever inspects these buildings?
