I found this set of earrings in a jar of random jewelry from the estate sale last weekend.
The clips are drilled into the stone, not glued.
It has a Japan stamp. I am wondering if the Japan part was added later or was part of the original piece? I did not think these were Japanese when I first pulled them out. My knowledge of carved beads is obviously limited, though.
I appreciate all the information and love reading all the threads here.

I thought these things were pre-WWII, but a quick google search indicates shoe clips were still a thing in the 1950s.
