I started a you tube channel “Lopacki stone and metal”. Uploaded a seven part series “Making a large chrysocolla bead”.

.49inch 12.5mm largest diameter
5mm hole

I thought about it last night that I did not put the size of the bead in my description here it is.

Frank,
I am assuming you mean 600 mesh not 60. As far as the final shaping goes I used a 260 mesh hard diamond wheel. In pre-polish I used soft wheels in this order 600, 1200 and 14,000

Have not had bloody fingers for at least thirty five years from bead making. Plenty prior to learning techniques to avoid it.

I have been using a soft 60 for final shaping for a few years now and after it is a bit worn the drape makes the shapes I like to make a bit more efficient.
