Hello Ali,

When you write "new," do you mean 'last week,' 'last month,' 'last year'—or do you suppose these are RECENT, versus being older (antique or ancient)?

Reasonable-appearing imitations have been circulating since the 1990s, and there are various types and editions. Some are even technically similar to ancient beads (though many are not).

In 2018 it might be possible to acquire imitation or reproduction decorated carnelian beads from 20 years ago; 10 years ago (for instance); or from more recent times.

It is helpful to see these things, and to know whatever information can be determined. I am glad you posted these beads. Jamey

Hi Jamey
I think I can not use English words correctly. when I said new I ment recent . because when you see these beads go to bazar 3times in one month. Surely they have been made less than a year ago.also I just see two or three dealers. Where the rest go I don't know. Surely they made copies for many years but these are really recent.for me the glass beads were more Intresting.
He didn't let me to check more carefully and I didn't have time to argue. Recently very nice copies of ancient seals goes from Afghanistan and I am waiting to take those photos.

Hello Ali,

One has to wonder if your small animal has been recarved from a recent Indian or Chinese agate bead (?). I think this would not be difficult, and the result might be fairly compelling.

Most of the glass beads look good. Post-Roman through the Islamic Period. There are a few trade beads included, as often happens.

Be well. Jamey

Hi Jamey
I don't know why but i didn't have good feeling when I touched glass beads.the reason is they buy these kind of beads by 5 times price in iran ( i mean real ancient ones). But he asked me five dollars for each glass beads.and ut happens twice in a month.
I try to convenient myself but any time I see this kind of glass beads with fake etched and other stony beads go together in bazar.i get confused.
I wish I could buy and send you some sample. But no way to send from here anything in this political situation. I am still suspect many of those glasses are new and they just broke them and maybe some new tricks for making copies.
Best wishes
Ali
