A budding bead collector working in Afghanistan bought a bowl full of beads from a local Haji shop. He would like to know if they are ancient or not. As I am not an expert on this region, I solicit your help. There is quite a variety so I will post several images. Here are some dZi beads and an engraved bead.

After a quick look I think only the lowest photo has some OLD beads. (Not necessarily ancient.)

For advice regarding seals, see my replies from ca. two weeks ago, below. Some of those shown are more-or-less the same as seen in my link. However, I did not look carefully—and the photos are not close enough to be too confident. But, reasonably, they are mostly or all repros.

The zi beads are all recent Chinese reproductions. None predate 1992. And they are most-likely less than 10 years old.

Anyone buying zi beads should know that 9-eye beads typically cost about $50,000. and much more. No one is going to find these, nor other desirable-pattern zi beads in a bowl for a few dollars.

I’ve been active in the dZi would in Asia these past few years , I’ve seen and touched at least five perfect 9 eyes.

It will be (in good condition) one more zero.(500000usd.)
if the quality is outstanding it can be double to triple that, even more.
