The auction catalog description reads:

"This antique Chinese silk large beaded tassel trim mahjong game table cover dates from the 1920's. It is made of a black silk center square, with an aqua green bluish brocade ribbon trim border edging woven design of animals including a crane and spotted deer. The crane is a symbol of longevity and the deer symbolizes riches. There are four large colorful silk tassels with amber glass ball beads and gold metallic rope trim attached onto each corner. This stunning square table cloth cover would have been used to play the game of mahjong. The tablecloth measure 34 by 34 inches and has 12 inch long tassel trim. It is in good condition This is a wonderful piece of Chinese textile art!"

The point of all this:

Over the years I have mentioned a number of beads called "ojime" which were adapted from the beads on the corners of covers for mahjong or folding card tables. The covers appear to be Chinese and the beads are sold as Japanese ojime. In this case, the beads are Peking glass and could not be mistaken for ojime.

But there are a large number of examples in lacquer, composition and glass which are unwittingly resold as "ojime." I have found many necklaces -usually on Portobello Road- which offer these beads in necklace form. And, it is possible that they were made in Japan for the Chinese table cover market. When you see these necklaces, count the number of beads which are nearly identical. Often there are four matching ones in these necklaces…Or, two pairs which seem to belong together as a group of four.

I pulled it out of its storage box, it's my cover.
I recollect this is a picture of it that the vendor made, and that I sent to you when I purchased it from them. It's very heavy silk, and the tassels are quite large. The large beads are a rich reddish beer bottle brown, very like amber.

...where you will also be informed that I paid $100 for the cover.
Anyone want it? I'm not using it.

Some nice close-ups.
