I´m walking on clouds today...Made myself an Easter gift with this beauty "egg". Took a week to decide, because of the high price, but I was definitely in love with it, so what, today I bought it...I guess it is an old Venetian fancy, maybe to copy a Bodom from Ghana. With 32 x 20mm it´s pretty large...for me the first and only one so far in real life, but there is a brother shown by the Picards at their online exhibit "A Pictorial Essay on Ghanaian Beads"

Happy Holidays

Congrats Uwe, this is the most beautiful! For comparison i post mine, which i have collected in Mauritania on several overland travels in the 1990´s. There were there also highly valued in Mauritania.

Thank you Uwe for showing such a beauty! You gave me the incentive to dig these out of my bead room and take pictures to share. I have had them for over 10 years and do not remember where they originated from. The applied glass work is meticulous and they remind me of the style of Japanese "sugar" beads. Enjoy and happy Eastra!

i bought some of these bobbly ones in New York some years ago from an importer- they are made in India, but very fragile as the bobbles tend to get knocked off ... and obviously they did not become a popular line...

I have 3 beads like this. At first, I thought they might be African-made. But they are definitely Venetian. I also have 2 that feature the colors green, brick red and white.

A little something from the vault. They are Moretti glass made in a garret in San Francisco some twenty years ago. I was so attached to them I never let them see the light of day.

I was busy since I did the post and now I´m back in Germany...Bernie posted 4 of this type on FB, one very cool black and white, another one with end caps of metal, most likely done in Mauritania.
Does any one know, where I can buy "Wild beads of Africa" on lower shipping cost to Germany? 55.00USD for a 65.00USD book is hard to stand...Thanks in advance and happy spring time...winter in Morocco is better than the summer in Germany...
