For the uninformed, about how old is this bead? Do you know why the canes didn't melt to create a continuous surface? Low fired? Amazing vibrant red!

In the almost twenty years I have had the bead. I have forgotten most of the facts about the bead. I remember the seller using the term "Islamic era". Some time in the early AD's. The bead is coreless. It is rectangular in shape. The bead measures 17mm X 6.5mm with a 4mm whole at one end 1.6 mm whole on the other end. The color is not as vibrant as in the photo. It is a bright brick red, white with dark blue eyes. As a collector, I purchased the bead for the beauty not the scholastic.
