"Trade wind" beads? Need ID help, please.

Any ideas about the origin of these small striped glass rounds? The diameter is about 7 mm. Holes are about 2 mm diameter, with bits of white mandrel release in many.

They were not expensive & advertised as "trade wind" beads. I liked them for the possibilities of "companions" to larger beads.

Probably from India?

I have not seen these small ones before. However, the combination of the not very regular shapes, the striped color and the mandrel release makes me think India is the most likely source.
