Last night's necklace, blue rectangular fancy eye beads

I bought several lots of trade beads online last week. I had not seen the blue rectangular fancies before. The necklace was redesigned 3 or 4 times as I played with them. I like this arrangement best using 5 types of beads. It is wearable but not finished, long enough to slip over my head.

Nice work, and the striped yellows make the blues sing!

Thank you Luanne, much appreciated.

I think the color is a bit off in the photos, oh well.

This is my yellow jacket necklace. I tried numerous combinations, but a simple design worked best. There is no fighting the stripes, they must dominate.

Recently I have enjoyed designing 'packed' trade bead necklaces. In the past my necklace designs contained other types of beads, mostly because I had few trade beads to work with and I wanted particular colors. My filler beads mainly came from thrift stores and could be from anywhere in the world. Later a bead store opened and provided some Venetian and Czech beads. Now the internet has changed everything. I can find trade beads every day. It's so much fun!

Pink pineapples and blue feather beads.

I combined the pink pineapples and blue feather beads with pink marvered 'faceted' beads, blue powder glass discs, and round pink prossers.

I'm happy with this design unless I was to find a center bead. However, I like the idea of no center, and the way it would look non symmetrical if sitting askew on one's neck. I'm ready to knot this one and devise a clasp.

Sorry the photos are so large.

My daily necklace for many years.

I wore this necklace daily for many years. I've replaced and knotted the thread twice. The center bead has changed twice. I could not find a second pink pineapple so I bought a contemporary lampwork Japanese eye bead and placed a cranberry pony bead next to it to create balanced pink spots on the choker. I tried to balance dark and light and some of the brighter colors. My bead choices were very limited, and features many beads sold to me by Dot at the Folk Music Center in Claremont. She was often visited by African traders dealing in musical instruments, textiles, and beads. As you can see repairs are needed again, but this time just a clasp.

It was created many years before the internet came into my life and represents bead hunting on foot, 'in the wild' in my nearby region.

Many months ago Rosanna show some necklace she made and invited us to do the same. I did not have photos available at the time. I finally got some made today. My moment for show and tell.

Please feel free to share some of your own.

I made numerous choker length necklaces for myself over the years. These were all created pre-internet. One is worn by my husband, one was given to my mother, the others are mine.

The large lobed red Czech melon bead is an old favorite. The necklace was designed for it. The fake amber could use replacement with something better.

The turquoise came from thrift stores and is probably fake, I have no idea. I used a lot of carved bone back then which I might not use now.

Patricia Frantz feathered tab with garnets with made-in-India fancy beads necklace

In the early 1990s I bought this feathered tabular bead in person from Patricia Frantz (edited to correct name). At the same Los Angeles bead show I bought the garnets, oh wait, those came from Paula too. The Made-In-India latticino and fancy beads came from a clothing and art boutique in Pasadena. The red whitehearts and Czech disc beads came from Rings and Things. The plain black beads were from a thrift store. The necklace is about 25 years old now.

I like this one very much. Amazing how such disparate beads go together so well. The artist's touch is evident.
