Chinese, Japanese? old new? any info appreciated.

Estate sale lot from a few years ago. Lot had both old and new Venetian and Czech and this strand.

Beads are approx 25x15mm, upclose inspection some beads have splits as if some type of drying out wood or nut splitting. Definitely not plastic.

they are carved chinese canarium nuts, look end-on and you may still see the shell has 3 lobes- yours appear to have had the pointy ends filed away to be more round ended... the prayer strand may not be terribly old...

this is the image from my book, page 51, (annoyingly printed too small in the book...)
they are sometimes called chinese olives.
