Very nice group - I really admire them...all! The fact that they are round, have mounting holes makes the idea of scroll weights not their main purpose. They are round, and so...will roll when placed on a surface, impractical for use as a weight to keep a scroll in place. We do not have scrolls in the U.S. to worry about, why would the U.S. import them for that outdated purpose.

I believe the large beads, which they are, beads, were produced as lamp finial globes and for ceiling fan pulls as well. Each used in the modern era of electricity - so an estimate of 1920's and newer for large beads has always been my assumption. Their use as jewelry certainly implied by having a hole on each end as do the ojime and all beads of lesser diameter.

Here is a similar that sold awhile back that are in the style of at least one bead in the group. Your new group, beadiste, appears as a mix of antique and of vintage. Thanks so much for showing them. :)
